Osijek to host 2027 World Shooting Para Sport Championships
| The World Shooting Para Sport Championships are set to return to Croatia, with Osijek confirmed as the host city for the 2027 edition of the event. Over 300 athletes from over 55 nations are set to take part in the championships that will serve as an important stop in the qualification period for the LA28 Paralympic Games. The Osijek 2027 World Championships are scheduled for September 2027 at the GSD Club and Sport Hall. The 12th edition of the Worlds will feature a full programme of Paralympic events in rifle and pistol, along with developmental events including Para trap, VI rifle, and mixed team competitions within a combined competition programme. It will also mark the second time the World Championships are held in Croatia following Zagreb 2010 while this will be the first World Championships to be staged in Europe since Suhl 2014 in Germany. The World Shooting Para Sport will return to Osijek for the fifth time after having previously held a World Cup in 2017, 2019, and 2023, and the 2025 WSPS European Championships. “We are thrilled to announce Osijek as the host city of the 2027 World Championships, marking the return of the event to both Europe and Croatia. Osijek has proven to be an excellent host of WSPS World Cups in the past, and with an experienced Local Organising Committee that recently hosted the WSPS European Championships, we are confident of delivering a successful Worlds,” said Tyler Anderson, Senior Manager of World Shooting Para Sport. LOC and GSD Osijek 1784 club president Zvonimir Kovacevic said: “We are very happy to welcome the world to GSD Osijek 1784 in 2027. We look forward to welcoming you with Croatian hospitality and look forward to seeing you in 2027.” The upcoming edition of the World Shooting Para Sport Championships will be held in Changwon, Korea in September 2026. This will be the second time the World Championships will be held in Korea following Cheongju 2018. |
